Magistrate gives deposition against Oishee and her friends

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mostafizur Rahman gave his deposition before the court of Judge Sayeed Ahmed of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-3 on Sunday.

The magistrate told the court that he had recorded statements of Imam Ali and Roni Sikdar as witnesses on August 29 and October 22, 2013 under Section 164 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). 

After recording deposition of the magistrate, the court fixed June 29 as the next date of hearing.

Police produced Oishee and her friend Asaduzzman Jony before court. Another accused Mizanur Rahman Rony who got bail on March 31 also appeared before court.

With this deposition, a total of 32 PWs have so far given deposition in the case.

According to case statement, the bodies of Mahfuzur and his wife Swapna were found at their Chamelibagh residence in the capital on August 16, 2013.

Oishee surrendered before Paltan police on the following day. Later, police arrested their domestic help Khadija Khatun Sumi and Oishee’s friends Jony and Rony.

On March 9, last year, DB Inspector Abul Khair Matubbar, the investigation officer (IO) of the case, submitted two charge-sheets in the case.

One of the charge-sheets was submitted against Oishee and her two friends and another  against Sumi, who is under 18 years of age, and her trial is being conducted at a juvenile court. Sumi is now on bail.

According to the charge-sheets, Oishee alone killed her parents, while Jony instigated the murders and Rony gave her shelter after the incident and Sumi assisted Oishee in concealing the bodies.
